Sommaire

  • Playing with identities

If Virginia Oldoini had been born two decades ago instead of in 1837, she undoubtedly would have been as famous as Kate Moss. The Florentine of noble birth was already obsessively attracted to the camera in the first decades after the invention of photography. And she was a ravishing beauty. For these reasons she may be considered the first photo model in history.

  • Behind the scenes

Because his father was a photographer, documentary photographer Vincent van de Wijngaard (1967, Leiden) was surrounded by photos from an early age. Still, Vincent first chose for graphic design, but he soon abandoned it. Since his graduation as photographer at the Hague Art Academy he has photographed for Dutch magazines, including Rails, Avenue, MAN and Dif. He shot advertising campaigns for Peugeot, Vodafone, Nike and others. Besides his photo work, Vincent sometimes handles a film camera.

  • Tara Fallaux. Models and Moms

Tara Fallaux (1972, Amsterdam) studied at audiovisual academies in Amsterdam and Pittsburgh (USA), where she focussed her attention on film installations and photography. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University she moved to New York to work, first as a photography assistant, later as a photographer.

  • Marcel van der Vlugt. In search of beauty

The series and projects from Marcel van der Vlugt come about by association. He puzzles pieces together by thinking conceptually about a title, a term, a colour, a topicality or even about a personal subject, like loss. Sometimes it may take years before everything comes together. During this process Dadaism, Surrealism, Pop Art and the media itself form a great source of inspiration.

  • Marcqui Akins

"My passion for photography developed while working as a graphic designer and web developer. After realizing I could make a career out of my passion, I returned to college with the goal of becoming a professional photographer"

  • Edland Man. Photo Magic

Edland Man (1957, Utrecht), a photographic ‘wizard’ who succesfully combined photographs and illustrations, even before the computer manipulation of images. He still manages to create/produce stunning images.

  • Publishing Fashion

Sandor Lubbe (44) is sitting contentedly in his spacious officehome- apartment at the edge of the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. For the past two years, the founder of the once famous fashion magazine DUTCH has been working on creating a new magazine. Even with all the experience he gained through DUTCH, he cannot quite yet lean back and put his feet up. Quite the opposite.
